KingDom Theater present the performance “The Winter Bird“, based on the Swedish children’s best-selling novel “Pirates of the Ice Sea” by Frida Nelson and highlighting the work of contemporary Scandinavian singer AURORA and her song “Winter Bird”.

Siri and her younger sister Miki live by the Ice Sea. In the evenings they sit by the fire and tell terrible stories about a pirate with snow-white hair and a heart as empty as an ice cave. One morning, when the sisters go to the sea to collect snow berries, Captain Whitehead kidnaps Miki and takes him away on the ship “Snow Raven” …

The ensemble of actors tells the story of Siri, who decides to overcome her fears and find her sister, despite the horrors of the cold world around her, ice and snow, bloodthirsty wolves, ugly mermaids and frightened people who do not believe that she can succeed. We see the story through Siri’s eyes, watching the shadows of her fears grow larger than herself, and then we see the girl find the courage to conquer her fear to continue her journey. This is a story of ups and downs, struggle and hope, betrayal and friendship, loneliness and sisterhood.

The performance was created in such theatrical styles as plastic theater, hand theater, shadow theater, puppet theater, and is permeated with modern Scandinavian music.
After touring in Italy and Japan, “Winter Bird” flies with a special sense of joy to her beloved city of Montreal!
